Transitional Living Room in Santa Rosa
Library Transformation A gorgeous room by designer Loralai Wester The Goal Transform a nondescript family room with a propensity for clutter into a well thought out Classic/Contemporary inspired room that functions as a library, office, and sitting room. The Challenge Design and have built an office system that takes full advantage of the client’s limited space. Incorporate an existing sentimental chair in need of re-upholstering, a classic leather-bound book collection, and a stain-glass lamp created by the client into the new design. Create an informal environment that works for not only reading and office work, but also as a comfortable place to gather with friends and family or read a book. Make the space visually appealing due to its close proximity to the homes entry. The Success Story The result is a space that mixes contemporary pieces with antiques and personal keepsakes in a way that feels harmonious and fresh. A custom office system was designed, built and installed that perfectly suites the client’s needs, including plenty of space for file storage and office equipment. A solid wood bookcase was included to display the client’s book collection and decorative accessories. A classic/contemporary style of office furniture in cherry wood was chosen to compliment the red leather sofa and dramatic art. A favorite chair was re-upholstered in a Stickley fabric and a brightly colored hand-knotted wool rug was added to unite the room. • Craftsman Great Room in Sonoma County
Truly a Great Room by designer Loralai Wester The Goal The client purchased a traditional ranch style home with the vision of a dramatic remodel. Knocking down walls that separated the kitchen, living and dining room, they created a spacious and airy Great Room with vaulted ceilings and craftsman style touches. Using new and existing furniture, they desired the creation of comfortable gathering areas, arranged in a clean and uncluttered look. The Challenge Design multiple cozy groupings that create warm and inviting areas for an expansive space. Incorporate customer’s existing custom made mission-style pieces with the new furnishings and give it a fresh look. The Success Story Craftsman style built-ins set the tone for a gathering area at one end of the Great Room. Two sofas and a cocktail table, arranged facing the stone fireplace, are a welcoming place to sit and relax, watch TV or enjoy the warmth of a fire. A smaller intimate conversation area creates a clean transition towards the open kitchen, with two comfortable chairs, a small table and a beautiful rug in muted greens. The resulting Great Room offers cozy enclaves for gathering in an airy and uncluttered space. Share This Project On Client's Response Loralai was wonderful to work with. Craftsman Inspired Living Room in Oakmont
A room comes to life! by designer Loralai Wester The Goal My clients were recent transplants from Oregon to Oakmont. They moved in order to be closer to their children and grandchildren. They shared with me that during their move the U-Haul trailer they were traveling in was broken into and their most prized possessions stolen. They needed my help rebuilding a home that would reflect their personalities and provide a place to be with their loved ones. The Challenge Because we would be starting from scratch, it was important for me to find furnishings that effected my clients on a personal level. Two sentimental item that did survive the trip from Oregon were a couple of beautiful rugs. These provided a great foundation for us to re-build from. We worked together to choose items that would make my clients feel comfortable in their new home. The Success Story The first item my clients fell in love with was a 2016 Stickley Collectors TV Console. It’s inlay and craftsman details were a great focal point for the family room. We chose a large Century sofa in a soft neutral linen fabric with brightly colored pillows that we would find the perfect art work to compliment. A Flexsteel swivel glider rounded out the seating for a room the whole family could enjoy. A set of stacking tables were a great addition to the room which could be used as TV trays for when the grandchildren visited. A Nichols and Stone dining set paired with a Stickley sideboard was just what we needed to link the two rooms together and provide a place for future family meals. Share This Project On Client's Response My husband and I were fortunate to be greeted by Loralai Wester when we first came into Pedersen’s. We told her what we needed and were happy to find exactly what we were looking for. She added a few things that made our rooms really come alive. The furniture is great quality and appearance. We would recommend Loralai and Pedersen’s to anyone looking for furniture.~ Kathie, Oakmont View Projects by Loralai Wester
