Mary Marson

Interior Designer

We live in our house, but we relax in our home. A designer’s job is to create a space that is relaxing, functional and beautiful. There is an art to arranging a room–getting the scale and proportions correct; pulling fabrics, textures and colors together so the juxtaposition is harmonious and, in the end, you feel comfortable and relaxed. As a Pedersen’s designer my job is to facilitate important design principles and help you create a space that is a reflection of your own personal style. I encourage my clients to keep heirloom pieces or pieces they love because It’s these special pieces that gives your space warmth and character. As your designer I’ll be respectful of your budget, listen to your likes and dislikes and work hard to create a space that gives you satisfaction.

  • Family room with Wine Country influence by interior designer, Mary Marson
Wine Country Family Room in Proctor Terrace
Wine Country Family Room by designer Mary Marson The Goal Update the family room with fresh color and create a cozy and comfortable place for the family to relax or watch TV. The Challenge Maintain an eclectic flavor while adding new pieces to the mix. The Success Story A big Century chair provides a great spot to relax. The super distressed surface of the leather gives the look of a vintage bomber jacket. A Miles Talbot sofa in a bold stripe adds a playful feel, and provides a nice contrast to a traditional Persian rug. The dark wood of a Stuart David console makes a happy home for the TV and looks beautiful with the copper tones of the clock. Two ceramic lamps add texture. A vibrant red throw and accent pillows in cream and orange are a fresh pop of color. The resulting space welcomes the family with an upbeat and eclectic attitude while delivering the desired extreme comfort. • French Country style bedroom by Mary Marson and Pedersen's Furniture
A French Country Style Bedroom in Santa Rosa
A Serene Retreat in Santa Rosa by designer Mary Marson The Goal Create a feminine space to enjoy with a place to read and relax. The Challenge Design window coverings to manage the bright light in keeping with the look. The Success Story Choosing a color palette of golds, creams and a soft gray blue, the custom bedding combines a variety of fabric designs and textures. A romantic floral print pairs beautifully with the simplicity and subtle texture of the cream and blue matelasséࣥ. A blue chair and ottoman offer a comfortable spot to read a book or just retreat and relax. To control the bright light from the windows, classic shutters were ideal. Blue and white buffalo check drapery panels soften the look. Lamps, a rug and a painting are finishing touches. This room is a dream come true. Share This Project On Client's Response We knew it was time to make major changes to our home of nearly 20 years. We needed to paint, refinish the hardwood floors, install new carpet and purchase new furniture, but we didn’t have the experience to decide on colors and styles. So when we saw Pedersen’s ad in the paper regarding a “Master Plan”, we knew this was worth looking into. Our consultant, Mary Marson, worked with us and developed a Master Plan that thrilled us and we began to transform our house into a beautiful home! We are totally satisfied with the results.~ Mark and Aimee, Santa Rosa View Projects by Mary Marson

  • Living room design by Mary Marson and Pedersen's Furniture
    Contemporary Living Room in Calistoga
Scarf Dancing in Calistoga by designer Mary Marson The Summary Trudy wanted a new look in her living room and she came to Pedersen’s for help. She shared with me that she loves to entertain and that she also wanted the fabrics to be cleanable. We chose to work with Sunbrella fabrics because they are easy to spot clean and they won’t fade in direct sunlight! Trudy wanted to use a red and gray color scheme. We chose the Caymen wedge sofa in Pewter Smoke along with two complimentary chairs in a light grey all by Miles Talbot. We utilized a red rug she already had as well as her end tables. A glass top metal cocktail table by Artistica kept the room light and airy. Dark red ceramic lamps, a fun piece of wall art called Nova Scarf Dance along with custom window treatments brought the room to life and my client was extremely happy with the final result. A dovetail cocktail table and a set of Jonathan Charles nesting tables provide light and dark woods for variety. A plate of decorative pears adds a sparkle of gold as a finishing touch. A chandelier brightens the space above a Theodore Alexander game table. For gathering with friends by the fire, enjoying a glass of wine or perhaps relaxing with a game of chess –this offers comfort and style.
